About Us

Why Machineers Exists

Machineers is a small independent publication about playing games, making them and learning through puzzles. It is written for curious players, hobbyist developers and anyone who enjoys a clever challenge, whether they are a parent looking for a puzzle to share or a student building a first prototype.

Three areas that feed one another

Articles fall into three areas: gaming, game development and educational puzzles. Playing teaches you what makes a design work, building shows you why it is hard, and puzzles sit in the middle as a way to practise careful thinking.

  • Gaming looks at how games play, what they ask of you, how to get more from them and how to choose what to play next.
  • Game Development covers design ideas, small project planning, tools, common beginner mistakes and ways to finish what you start.
  • Educational puzzles explores logic, pattern and word challenges that teach a skill while remaining fun to solve.

Our approach

The goal is advice you can use the same day. Where a game, engine or tool is discussed, claims are checked against official documentation, patch notes and the maker’s own descriptions. When something is a matter of taste, or results differ between devices and versions, the article says so plainly.

Software changes quickly. Updates arrive, features are removed and prices move, so pages are revisited and revised when details stop being accurate.

Who reads Machineers

Some readers are new and want a gentle starting point. Others have played or built for years and want a second view on one specific question. Nothing here assumes expensive hardware or a technical background.
